Numbers released this week by the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission show that Williston set a record for the month of June with 1,315 boardings.
This was a 52 percent increase over the 865 boardings recorded in 2009.
Boardings at Sloulin Field have been up for several months and have been over 1,000 each month this year. The 1,315 in June was only down slightly from the 1,337 recorded in May.
Aeronautics Commission Director Larry Taborsky said in a press release that North Dakota's airports have their busiest traffic and most complete set of routes for planes ever right now. "The airlines have increased capacity, and the travel numbers continue to increase along with it," said Taborsky.
Statewide, each of North Dakota's eight commercial airports saw increases in their June boarding numbers compared to 2009. Each of the eight airports also set 10-year records for June boardings.
Overall there were 67,094 boardings statewide in June, an increase of 7.9 percent over the 62,175 recorded in 2009.
