Furuseth is a classically trained singer and entertainer.
He sings with several elite groups in Minot including the Minot City Opera. He has a recurring role as Lord of the Manor for the Renaissance Feast of the Chamber Chorale as well as singing solos in the chorale’s other concerts. Furuseth is currently President of the Western Plains Opera Company and a member of the North Dakota Humanities Council.
As MSU’s Humanities Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of English he is active as literary critic and creative writer, and as a performer in the spoken word in addition to his music performances.
His performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sibyl Center in Stanley. A mid-week concert will be presented at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sibyl Center, when guitarist, John Harr returns.
Guitarist-composer John Wayland Harr has a passion for the guitar. His classical interpretations, arrangements of popular songs, and original compositions bring a fresh perspective to the instrument.
The Bismarck Tribune described his stage presence this way: "When he plays, he looks sometimes like he's deep in prayer, head bowed . . . . ."
In addition to the music program, he also offers commentary to the stories behind the music.
Harr, a South Dakota native now living and teaching elementary music in northwest Oregon, last performed at the Sibyl Center in 2008.
Admission to Sibyl Center events is a donation at the door.
