The Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, located at 1821 9th Ave. W., Williston, is hosting this event.
Each gathering is organized locally, but they are all connected in spirit, as participants across the globe watch this American Foundation for Suicide broadcast.
A light lunch is served at 11:30 a.m., with the broadcast to begin at noon. All who have lost someone to suicide are welcome.
We would like to thank all the participants and sponsors of the Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention and Awareness Every 16 minutes, someone in the United States commits suicide.
The goal for the Williston group for 2009 for suicide prevention and awareness is $10,000.
To date, 92 walkers and sponsors have raised $8,324. Donations can still be sent until the end of the year. Designate your donation to the Williston Out of the Darkness Walk.
Half of the proceeds remain locally for education and awareness. On the third Thursday of each month, a suicide loss support group meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
