Two children were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Williston Wednesday afternoon.

A report from the Williston Police Department states the accident occurred at 3:55 p.m. at the intersection of Second Avenue West and 34th Street.

The accident happened when Cheryl Olson, 51, Williston, was traveling north on Second Avenue West in her 2005 Chevy Blazer south of 34th Street.

A second vehicle, a 2008 Honda driven by Mandie Berger, 28, Williston, was traveling west off of 34th Street.

Berger attempted to cross 34th Street in front of Olson and was struck in the driver's side door. Berger left the scene of the accident and was later found when she tried to take her two children, an 8-year-old female and a 29-day-old male, to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.

Berger was cited for a stop sign violation and driving with a suspended license. Other charges may still be filed for leaving the accident.

Damage to Olson's Blazer was estimated at $10,000 and damages to Berger's Honda were estimated at $20,000.

" There is no excuse for driving while suspended or leaving the scene of an accident! Who cares what kind of mother she is1 her actions speak louder "

" I know Mandie, and she did not leave so she wouldn't get in trouble. Duh...The car was still there, obviously they would find who owned it!! Do you suppose she may have been in shock, or stunned, after the crash and wasn't thinking clearly? She is an upstanding citizen of Williston, and just because she made a mistake once (thus having a suspended license) Doesn't mean she didn't learn from that and was still a safe driver!! Also, she is a WONDERFUL, LOVING Mother!!! "

    " Dear Citizen,
You stated "Who Cares" to this woman having a suspended license. Decent, responsible people care, that's who. This woman has a suspended license for a reason--either she had too many tickets from speeding and other driving violations, or she had a driving under the influence type violation, or maybe ever for a medical reason. It does matter--because she doesn't have a valid drivers license and she isn't a safe driver. She put other drivers/passengers in danger when she got behind the wheel. And, she very well may have been concerned about her children, but she was more concerned about getting in trouble--that's why she left the scene. Come on. "

" I know her personally, and there is not a better mother anywhere! Concerning her leaving the scene, do you suppose MAYBE she was in shock from the trauma of the crash, and not thinking clearly? Just MAYBE? Not to mention worried about her children. If they do investigate her fitness as a parent, they will not find anything bad. Obviously she made a mistake to have her license suspended, but she has learned from that, I am sure, especially now. Ask anybody who knows her what kind of a mother she is!! "

" The thing about this town everyone jumps to conclusions and there full of critizm! It's pretty pathetic! Yeah she had a suspended license, who cares! The only thing that matters is that everyone was ok especially those kids..She did go to the hospital right away cause the baby got flown to Bismarck! "

" Why did that mother leave the scene of the accident. What if those children would have had internal injuries that she didn't know about. Is she really fit to be a parent at all? I would hope that she will be investigated because she not only left the scene of an accident but there were children involved and one was a new born and she really put them in danger by not going to hospital right away. I sure hope that nothing comes up later on with those children that was caused by the accident since the mother didn't take them to hospital right away. "

" Williston Citizen - Her concern about her childrens' welfare must not have been a consideration when she got behind the wheel with a suspended license. I wonder if she even stopped long enough to ask Olson if she was injured? I also wonder how long it was from the time of the wreck until Berger went to the hospital? "

" I can understand that if there were an accident, the first thing I would think about would be my children. I wouldn't think twice about taking them directly to the hospital because I would be more worried about them then my car. I realize that that's not the way the law works but if the other person is ok then sometimes a mother's instinct comes first. "
